“...her legacy and her loves continues to make an impact…”
Greetings Riverview Church! One thing I would like to do this ministry year is to highlight ways in which God is working in the hearts and lives of folks that have been coming to our church.
I thought I would begin by sharing a story about Jan Leavitt. Jan loved our church and would attend the Tuesday morning Women's Bible Study as well as our Sunday morning services. Jan was a gifted, intelligent, and faithful believer in Christ. She loved our Loft House ministry and always had a concern for the youth of our church. Unfortunately, Jan was diagnosed with a condition that was causing her kidneys to shut down. She went through a number of procedures to try to address this very acute situation which also demanded that she undergo frequent dialysis treatments. Eventually, however, this condition took her life and Jan went home to be with the Lord this past March (2018). Jan and her husband Neal had a wonderful, strong, loving relationship.
Neal wanted to honor Jan's life, her love for the women's Bible Study, her heart for the loft house ministry as well as her concern for our youth. Neal’s love for Jan has led him to donate funds for a couple of years now that would subsidize the cost for refreshments that the ladies enjoy on Tuesdays as they fellowship together. Neal expressed how much these times meant to Jan. He also donated funds that would assist in our building of loft houses as well as funds that would serve as scholarships for students who would like to attend youth retreats but find it difficult to afford. I love when things like this happen, especially in remembering a wonderful person like Jan Leavitt and the impact her love for the Lord made in the lives of others in our women's ministry.
